This page describes the current PUMPKIN-MAN game at pumpkin-man.com.
What stays in your browser
The game stores your personal best score and, after you save a qualifying score, your player name in local storage on your device. You can clear these through your browser’s website-data settings. No account is required.
Shared high scores
If you choose to save a qualifying score, your player name, score, and submission date are stored on the server. The public leaderboard shows the top ten names and scores. Names are checked for profanity. Do not use a real name or other private information if you do not want it published.
Top-ten entries remain until displaced by higher scores or removed. Scores outside the top ten are not kept as leaderboard entries.
Game checks and abuse prevention
The browser sends a signed game-session ticket, score, and recorded directional moves to the server to verify a completed game. The leaderboard stores temporary session identifiers to prevent duplicate submissions. Tickets expire after two hours; expired identifiers are pruned on later submissions.
For submission limits, the server uses a keyed hash of the request IP address, rather than storing the raw IP address in the leaderboard data. Rate-limit timestamps are kept for a one-minute window and pruned on later submissions.
Hosting
The site and score storage run on Vercel. Hosting providers may process request information such as IP addresses and technical logs to deliver and secure the service. Read Vercel’s privacy policy for its practices. The game code does not include advertising trackers or a third-party visitor-analytics script.
Questions or removal requests
